One of the district’s current buses will be kept to transport children to and from field trips. “We will continue to employ our bus drivers through the district,” Weiss said. She said the board opted to enter into a lease agreement rather than purchase two new buses due to cost. School buses have a 12-to-13-year shelf life. “This is something brand new,” said Weiss during a later interview. However, Superintendent Misty Weiss said the buses are at the end of their life cycle. The district currently owns two school buses and has been utilizing them to transport students to and from school. Maintenance of the buses is included in the contract. In response to questions about his schedule from a handful of teachers who attended the meeting, Gahles said he receives email on his cell phone and will answer any inquiries promptly. He will be on call one day per week for the district. Gahles will continue to work two days a week in the district.
